About us

GENTT (Textual Genres for Translation) is a research group made up of specialists in Translation, Linguistics and Applied Languages in the Department of Translation and Communication at Universitat Jaume I (UJI) in Castellón (Spain).

We set up the group in 2000, prompted by our interest in the study of specialised translation and communication. Since then, we have focused our efforts on analysing multilingual communication in the fields of Medicine and Law, taking the notion of text genre as the backbone and guiding principle of our work.

From the very beginning, our overriding priority has been responsible research activity with real transferability to society. We firmly believe in developing interdisciplinary projects capable of responding to current communicative challenges. Consequently, we have built up an extensive network of collaborators over the years in disciplines such as Sociology, Medicine, Documentation, Law and Psychostatistics, among others.

We are also strongly committed to training new researchers and collaborators, who play an active part in the work of the group under the supervision of the senior researchers; added to this is the transfer of our research experience to our teaching so that our students are made aware of the latest advances in the discipline.

Numerous public institutions have endorsed this approach, and as a result, we have received public funding uninterruptedly since 2000.

We invite you to explore our website, where you will find information on our team and network of collaborators, the projects we have carried out and our latest activities.
